InQs, a Japanese company, has made significant advancements in solar technology with its introduction of SQPV Glass at CES 2024. This innovative clear solar glass can generate electricity not only from sunlight but also from invisible light, making it effective even in low-light indoor environments or on cloudy days. The technology stands out for its ability to efficiently convert light into electricity through a sophisticated layering of nanomaterials sandwiched between two sheets of conductive glass. Remarkably, SQPV Glass can harvest light from both sides of the glass, maximizing energy production (XTechBiz).

The SQPV technology, developed with the collaboration of International Frontier Technology Laboratory Inc. (IFTL) and supported by the NTT Group, utilizes catalysts and electrodes to harness power from light, showcasing a visible light transmittance of 75% and the capability of power generation from both sides of the glass. The glass, besides generating power, substantially reduces the heat generated by sunlight, contributing to energy efficiency and carbon footprint reduction (Business Wire).
